Patek Philippe Celestial 6105G-001 — A Timeless Sky on the Wrist
The First Wristwatch with Sunrise and Sunset Indication Adjustable for Daylight Saving Time.
Unveiled at Watches and Wonders 2026, the Patek Philippe Celestial 6105G-001 represents five years of development and six patents — a world premiere in astronomical grand complication watchmaking. Derived from the legendary Celestial family, this 47mm white gold masterpiece displays the night sky as seen from Geneva, the phases and orbit of the Moon, and — for the very first time in a Patek Philippe wristwatch — the times of sunrise and sunset, with a patented correction for Daylight Saving Time.
The Celestial Dial — The Universe in 47mm
The multi-layered dial is one of the most complex dial constructions in modern watchmaking. Multiple independently rotating discs recreate the night sky with breathtaking accuracy. A sapphire disc rotates once every 23 hours and 56 minutes, displaying the star chart on its front face and the Milky Way on its reverse — creating an extraordinary sense of depth. A second sapphire disc, covered in black PVD, represents the Moon’s rotation in 24 hours and 50 minutes, with a circular aperture revealing a third mineral crystal disc reproducing the Moon phases. This mechanism deviates by just one day in 3,000 years.
Sunrise and Sunset — A World First for the Wrist
The peripheral date disc serves double duty — displaying the date by hand while also carrying the sunrise and sunset indications, tracked by two dedicated white baton-style hands. Two correctors at 8 and 10 o’clock allow instant switching between winter and summer time, simultaneously correcting the time by one hour and adjusting the date disc — ensuring the sunrise and sunset indications remain accurate year-round without any mental arithmetic.
Calibre 240 C LU CL LCSO — Six Patents of Ingenuity
The new automatic calibre beats at 21,600 vph and delivers a 38-48 hour power reserve. Derived from the legendary calibre 240 with its 22ct gold micro-rotor, it incorporates 426 components across just 7.93mm of height. The sunrise and sunset mechanism employs two ovoid cams with a patented double feeler and a monolithic flexible component — eliminating friction, wear, and lubrication requirements while contributing to the movement’s remarkable thinness. Every surface bears the Patek Philippe Seal.
The White Gold Case — Surprisingly Modern
The 47mm white gold case features a bold lugless design and an X-shaped decoration on the case band and solid caseback — a strikingly contemporary aesthetic for Patek Philippe. The lugless construction makes the watch wear smaller than its diameter suggests. Two crowns at 2 and 4 o’clock handle winding/time-setting and astronomical indication adjustment respectively. A date corrector pusher sits at 7:30.
